What is AXS used for?

AXS is the governance and utility token for the Axie Infinity ecosystem. AXS holders are able to claim rewards if they stake, play the game, and participate in key governance votes. Players also earn AXS when playing the game and through user-generated content initiatives.

AXS tokenomics

The max supply of AXS is capped at 270M tokens. The token distribution is as follows: 20% allocated to Play and Earn incentives, 29% to staking rewards, 8% to the ecosystem fund, 21% to the Sky Mavis team, 7% to team advisors, 11% for public sale, and 4% for private sale.

How does AXS accrue value?

AXS has intrinsic value as the in-game medium of exchange to carry out transactions within the Axies Infinity universe. AXS serves as an in-game currency in the Axie marketplace to purchase Axies NFTs. It is also spent (along with its sister SLP token) to breed new Axies. Lastly, players can stake their AXS to participate in governance as well as earn platform fees and rewards (paid in AXS). The platform collects a 5% fee on every marketplace transaction and allocates it to the community treasury. In the future, staking AXS may provide rights to how these funds are used or distributed.
